HOW DO I COLLECT 100+ ITEMS?

​

1. Run a Second Serve Campaign to collect 100+ items. This could mean:

   • Partnering with a college varsity team to host an event during one of their matches

     • Joint marketing, collecting equipment from players & from community members who attend to match

   • ​Partnering with a tennis club to co-host an event or collection drive

     • Collecting donations during an event or tournament at the club, setting up a bin for drop-offs, or any other partnership​​

   • Partnering with a tournament

     • Using tournament communication methods to get players to bring equipment donations

   • Partnering with a brand

     • Using personal connections or outreach to see if a tennis store or an athletics brand may want to partner for a donation

WHAT TO DO WITH THE ITEMS COLLECTED?

YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO SHIP OR PERSONALLY DELIVER YOUR COLLECTED ITEMS

1. To ship, once items are collected,

   • Do a quality control check and discard any OLD or WORN OUT items.  We try to ship MODERN, GOOD QUALITY rackets and shoes that are in GOOD condition.

   • If rackets need new overgrips and/or strings, email resham@secondserve.org

   • Use your own boxes or buy boxes (size 30x15x15 boxes in bulk from Amazon). Second Serve will reimburse reasonable cost of the boxes once a receipt is sent. 

   • Pack each box with 10-12 rackets along with 2-3 pairs of shoes and/or tennis bags.

2. To deliver in person, once items are collected, reach out  to resham@secondserve.org ​​​

   • We will email you with local Title 1 high school or boys/girls clubs contacts that you can reach out to.

   • Contact them to set up a convenient time and place for an in-person donation.

   • Deliver equipment and take lots of photos!

   • Email photos to resham@secondserve.org so that we can recognize your efforts by posting them on social media.​

 

WHAT DO I DO ONCE MY BOXES ARE PACKED?

​

1.  ​To ship your packed boxes, reach out to resham@secondserve.org with the following information

   • Number of boxes with dimensions and weight of each box.

   • Your mailing address

​    2. Once you reach out, you will receive: pre-paid shipping UPS labels to drop off the              boxes at UPS to ship it to worthy recipients.

    3. Once boxes have reached, photos shared by the recipients will be posted on social            media.

Second Serve will function as a BRIDGE connecting those who have collected a large amount of equipment with children who could greatly benefit.
